Repo! The Genetic Opera

Repo! tells the story of the not-so-distant earth, where organs are scarce.

Repo! The Genetic Opera is a rock opera telling the story of a not-so-distant Earth where organs are scarce. The Largo family, led by Rotti Largo, began to sell organs, creating the company, Gene-Co, and for those who could not afford it, loans were available. However, if you could not pay back the loans, the Repo man would come and reclaim the organ. After this brief introduction, the movie jumps to Rotti, who is dying and must leave behind an heir. The only problem is that his three children, Luigi Largo, Pavi Largo, and Amber Sweet, are complete idiots. Rotti decides to leave his fortune to a 17-year-old girl named Shilo Wallace, the daughter of the woman he once loved. Shilo lives with her father, Nathan Wallace, who, unbeknownst to Shilo, is the Repo man. As the story unfolds, it is discovered that Rotti killed Shilo's mother, but made Nathan believe it was his fault. Nathan is not completely innocent, though. He confesses that he has been poisoning Shilo, who was led to believe she had a rare blood condition. In a strange twist of fates, both Nathan and Rotti die, and Shilo runs away, free from her genetic destiny.

Repo! The Genetic Opera is a masterpiece. From its unique storytelling techniques, to the bizarre cast, it is pure cinematic genius. Alexa Vega is perfect as the blameless Shilo, proving she deserves to be in more films than Spy Kids. Even Paris Hilton, who got a bad rep after House of Wax, manages to pull off an amazing performance as the slutty, drug-addicted Amber Sweet. Her acting and singing are both commendable. However, what really makes Repo! such a great film is the intriguing story. In a world where there is currently a huge organ donor list, the potential for an organ repo man almost seems like a possibility. The grand finale, which ironically takes place on an opera stage, is captivating. Repo! The Genetic Opera is guaranteed to become a cult classic.
