Fast and Furious
Fast and Furious should have been the sequel to The Fast and the Furious, rather than having those two failed sequels in between (2 Fast 2 Furious and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift). The original gang is back and ready to take on another high-speed adventure.
Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and the rest of the crew started off the movie by highjacking a moving gasoline truck. This sequence keeps you at the edge of your seat while you wait to see who lives and who dies.
Just as the movie looked like it was going to progress, Dom has to split up the gang because the authorities are after him once again. As soon as he thought he was in the clear, someone very close to him dies from a tragic accident. Throughout the movie, he tries to find out who was the culprit and seek vengeance.
Detective Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) is trying to pursue his career further in the FBI by building a case against a Mexican drug dealer, Braga (John Ortiz), who may have been a part of Dom's loss of a loved one. Brian tries to be a tough street racer but his baby face is not too convincing. The directors could have chosen someone with a little more edge but I guess they were trying to find more eye candy for the already attractive gang.
Most of the movie deals with fast cars and street racing. Even though there were awesome special effects, there wasn't much to the plot. It seemed as though Dom was too upset with losing someone and running from the police that he didn't enjoy the thrill of driving fast cars and fixing them anymore.
Beautiful women threw themselves at Dom and he did not even make a move. His sex appeal was still there in this movie but he seemed to be emotionless. Honestly, I didn't think this incident should have occurred at the very beginning of the movie because this changed Dom's character completely.
The ending leaves an out-of-nowhere cliffhanger which only means one thing: There has to be a "Fast and Furious 5."
Fast and Furious is a good movie if you're into action and high-speed chases. However, if you were planning to see a movie with a little more depth, this will not be the right choice.
