Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

This film, based on the popular video game franchise, is absolutely beautiful.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is a film based on the popular video game franchise, meant to take the viewer on a nostalgic journey, remembering their favorite characters and the powers granted to them.

Set two years after the conclusion of the game, survivors of the destroyed city of Midgar are beginning to rebuild. While Cloud Strife (voiced in the American version by Steve Burton) is living with Tifa Lockhart (Rachel Leigh Cook) and two children, three mysterious men, Kadaj (Steve Staley), Loz (Fred Tatasciore) and Yazoo (Dave Wittenberg), are seeking their "mother." This search for their mother could spell doom for the entire planet.

The film is a beautiful one, with one frame being more incredible than the next. This left me wondering what the games themselves would have been like if they had the graphics of this film. The plot also fit in seamlessly with where the game ended; it seemed as if I didn't miss anything.

The one weak point of this film was the sound quality. The music in the film was good; however, at times it completely drowned out the dialogue of the film. This made it hard to follow what was going on at certain points.

This is an action-packed film, based on one of the best-selling video games of all time. However, the 100-minute running time of the film seems much longer, but that is balanced by the fact that every minute of this film is visually mind-blowing.
