American Gun
American Gun is a drama about the impact that gun violence can have on people from all walks of life.
The film focuses on the reactions of a group of people to gun violence, in the guise of three different stories. The main characters include an inner city high school principal, played by Forrest Whitaker, a suburban mother of a boy who committed a violent act with a gun, played by Marcia Gay Harden and a good student who works in her family's gun store, played by Linda Cardellini.
The best part of this movie was the acting of Forrest Whitaker as Carter, a high school principal. He did such a good job portraying the broken spirit of Carter, that it seems as if Whitaker went through the tragedy that befell Carter himself. I wanted to reach through the screen and comfort Carter, as he was obviously a troubled man.
The thing about this movie I didn't like was the fact that there were three separate storylines running at the same time. It would have made much more sense to me if the three storylines were interwoven. At some points it made the movie rather hard to follow.
I would recommend this movie to any gun owner, to show them how irresponsible gun use could affect many lives.
