Cinderella III: A Twist in Time

"Cinderella III" puts a whole new spin on the classic story. What would happen if the slipper didn't fit?

In Disney’s newest "Cinderella" sequel, "Cinderella III: A Twist in Time," the classic story is back, but with a whole new spin. This time the audience is asked, what might the story have been like if the slipper didn’t fit Cinderella?

After the evil stepmother ends up with the fairy Godmother’s wand, she uses it to go back in time, to the day when Cinderella’s dreams came true. Yet this time, the slipper fits on the foot of the evil stepsister, Anastasia. Cinderella, baffled by the changed events and aware that the slipper was supposed to fit her foot, sets out on an adventure with a cast of familiar friends to prove to the prince that she’s the mystery girl from the ball. However, with the stepmother holding tight to her magic wand, this task isn’t easy.

While Disney doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to their direct-to-DVD movies, "Cinderella III" is actually quite enchanting. If you can get past the opening song about Cinderella’s “perfectly perfect” life, the story unfolds with a whole new Cinderella who has evolved from a magic-dependent servant girl, to a princess who is jumping out of pumpkins and onto horses in her effort to win the prince. This movie also shows us a new and softer side of Anastasia, which goes to show evil is no longer as black and white.
