Ghost of Girlfriends Past
Mean Girls and "The Spiderwick" director Mark Waters has created another witty film with heart. "Ghost of Girlfriends Past" is a cheesy, yet inventive and fun film that all couples can call their guilty pleasure.
The romantic comedy tells the story of a New York fashion photographer, Connor Mead, who is famous for picking up and dropping women whenever he chooses. Mead, who is perfectly content with his womanizing ways, prefers never to settle down, commit and tie the knot. On the eve of his younger brother's wedding, however, childhood friend, Jenny Perotti catches his eye and captures his heart.
After the rehearsal dinner where Mead, in a belligerent state, delivers a speech about how love doesn't exist, the ghost of his role model, Uncle Wayne, pays him a visit. Uncle Wayne, who taught Mead everything he knows about picking up babes, advises him to fix his insensitive ways. He warns him that three more ghosts will appear that night that will each take him to his past, present, and future in an attempt to change and fall in love.
The film stars Matthew McConaughey as Connor Mead, Jennifer Garner as Jenny Perotti, Michael Douglas as Uncle Wayne, Emma Stone as Allison Vandermeersh, and Breckin Meyer who plays the role of Connor's brother, Paul.
Garner and McCounaughey's chemistry lights up the silver screen. Garner's sweet performance is the perfect balance to McCounaghey's bad-boy act. However, Michael Douglas steals the movie with his clever, quick-witted lines.
This film provides a perfect blend of humor and heart that will leave even the most cynical couples reeling for more.
