“Conspiracy Theory” is a fast-paced, exciting mystery romance that will keep you engaged from start to finish. With a mixture of a perfect amount of drama, suspense, comedy, and originality, this film is a must see.
Directed by Richard Donner, “Conspiracy Theory” tells the story of Jerry Fletcher, a man who is in love with a woman who works for the government. Fletcher is a blunt and straightforward man who has his own views about the government and sticks to his beliefs. He claims conspiracy theories for everything, ranging from aliens to assassinations. When he finds one of his theories to be accurate, he becomes more paranoid than before. When he discovers that some dangerous men want him dead, he turns to the woman he loves, but hardly knows.
This film features Mel Gibson, who plays the role of Jerry Fletcher, Julia Roberts, who plays the woman he’s in love with, Alice Sutton, Patrick Stewart as Dr. Jonas, Cylk Cozart as Agent Lowry, and Steve Kahan as Mr. Wilson.
Donner’s direction keeps the action moving, leaving you without one dull moment. Writer Brian Helgeland’s strategically places jokes that work well to ease the tension from the plot.
Mel Gibson delivers a superb, convincing performance that will keep you engrossed. Roberts and Gibson have a great chemistry on screen that makes watching the two extremely enjoyable.
The cinematography by John Schwartzman is also impressive.
With a talented cast, an inventive script, and surprising plot twists and turns, “Conspiracy Theory” is a film you can’t miss.
