Two Can Play That Game

There is always something remarkable about four female friends all sharing their love life stories, like in the hit TV shows Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, and Girlfriends.

In this case, Two Can Play That Game is a hilarious film about four women friends who all find themselves following the rules of the love game by punishing their boyfriends after their wrong doings. This romantic comedy written and directed by Mark Brown and starring Vivica A. Fox and Morris Chestnut is sexy, sophisticated, and soulful.

Shante Smith (Fox), an advertising executive, seems to know all there is to know about keeping a faithful relationship intact. She gives advice to her girlfriends every way she can and gives them rules to go by for the purpose of keeping or rejecting their man. Her relationship with lawyer Keith Fenton (Chestnut) appears smooth sailing until she and her friends catch him at their favorite nightclub with another woman.

Embarrassed and infuriated Shante plays it cool, but ultimately breaks-ups with him to punish him and not look like a hypocrite to her friends. Wanting her man back, she begins a "10 Day Plan."

Not knowing that Keith's friend Tony (Anthony Anderson), an expert on women, is guiding Keith's decisions to Shante's plan every step of the way, Shante is challenged and has her work cut out for her.

Fox is the best actor to play this role. Her real life personality is similar to Shante's but with minor tweaks. She does an excellent job at creating a confident African-American woman that is able to manage her life with or without a man.

Attractive and talented Chestnut is also able to tackle the character of Keith magnificently. Keith knows what he wants, gets it, and won't give it up. Chestnut finds a sensitive side to Keith that causes the audience to forgive him for stepping out of line.

Two Can Play That Game is one of those flicks that you can shamelessly watch over and over again. Don't go overboard and quote every line in the movie, like blurting out "The CIA ain't got s*** on a woman with a plan!"
