13 Going on 30
A movie for all ages!
“13 going on 30” has to be one of my favorite movies to watch on any random day. It stars Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer and Mark Ruffalo. This 2004 comedy is about a young 13-year-old girl named Jenna Rink. Like many teenagers at that age, Jenna wanted to fit in with the popular crowd in her school. In order to have this happen, Jenna invites the popular girls to her 13th birthday party. The leader of the popular girls, called the Six Chicks, decided to pull a prank on Jenna when she invites them to her birthday party. Before the party begins, her best friend, Matt Flamhaff, gives her a handmade doll house that has magic wishing dust sprinkled all over the top of the roof. During a game of “Seven Minutes in Heaven,” Jenna waits in the closet in hopes of being kissed by her crush, but instead is met with only Matt at her party. Jenna then blames Matt and locks herself in the closet as she wishes to be 30 years old. Thanks to the magic wishing dust, her wish came true.
This movie is really great for all ages to watch. It was funny, cute and even had a good ending. If you love the '80s, it is also a good way to kind of reminisce of the old days as references to the decade are made throughout the movie. Even if you have no clue about that decade, you may start to love it after watching scene’s such as the one where Jenna is dancing on the bed with the younger kids who lived in her building to the Pat Benatar classic, “Love Is a Battlefield.” It was truly just a great lighthearted film.
