Bolt

An animated film about one dog’s journey off of his Hollywood set.

“Bolt,” produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, is about a dog that has spent his entire life on the set of a television series and believes he has super powers. After filming a scene one day, Bolt, voiced by John Travolta, thinks his “person,” Penny (Miley Cyrus), has been kidnapped. He then goes on a journey across the country looking for her. When Bolt tries to use his “super powers” he has on the set, he is confused why they are not working out in the real world. Along the way, Bolt meets a stray cat, Mittens (Susie Essman), and a pet guinea pig, Rhino (Mark Walton).

While “Bolt” may be predictable, this short film is filled with a lot of good animation and comedy. “Bolt” is a perfect comedy for any age. It teaches life lessons such as staying true to your owner and vice-versa, as well as learning to live other lifestyles than the one to which you are accustomed. It really makes you think twice about animal abandonment.

“Bolt,” now available on DVD, is a fun and quick watch.
