The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration Review

The masterpiece known as "The Godfather" has seen its fair share of iterations and home releases since it came out in 1972, but the latest and, by far, the most impressive release is the collection, "The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration," which is now out on DVD and Blu-Ray disc. Featuring all three "Godfather" films...-the first two of which have been completely restored-...and a slew of bonus features, this collection gives viewers a chance to see the world of "The Godfather" like never before.

There isn't a whole lot for me to say about "The Godfather" trilogy that hasn't already been said by years and years worth of movie critics, but it wouldn't hurt to reiterate the fact that Part I and Part II are instances of cinematic genius. Coppola's direction created a dark and fascinating world for "The Godfather" films, giving them a presentation that is peerless. No movies make you root for bad people like "The Godfather" films do, and that's thanks to the Coppola's emotionally powerful depiction of the tragically flawed world of organized crime. Everything that Coppola created was also brilliantly executed by casts of genius actors and actresses, with particularly amazing performances by Marlon Brando, James Caan, Talia Shire, Robert Duvall, and Al Pacino.
