District 9

A massive relocation of aliens stranded on Earth leads to one man's worst nightmare.

District 9 is a science fiction film based on a 2005 short film, called "Alive in Joburg." Directed by Neill Blomkamp, the film throws its audiences of track. At first glance, most people would be expecting a film about aliens and the usual alien story. However, the story goes down a completely different path which makes the film the kind you either love or hate.

The film begins as what looks like a documentary, which makes viewers confused to begin with. At first there is little explanation as to how the aliens arrived on earth or why they even came at all. The story takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa where the aliens are being contained in slums and what looks to be like concentration camps. The aliens are called "prawns" from the way they appear to be. Overcrowding and militarization easily become the biggest problems with the prawns' slums and there is a need for a massive relocation of these aliens to another campground where they can be contained and monitored better my military forces.

MNU, Multinational United, is a defense contractor who is hired to do the job. MNU also conducts researches on new weapons, primarily the alien weapons that seem to only work when the aliens use them. During the relocation evacuation, one man is hired to carry out orders to have every alien sign a contract stating that they will willingly evacuate their homes and relocate. However, something goes terribly wrong during his evacuation mission which takes the story down a new path.
