Blue's Clues - Classic Clues
An introduction to the famous Blue's Clues.
There are two separate episodes in this video- Blue's School and Something To Do Blue. In the first, Blue, an animated dog, and Steve, are playing school, and the viewer gets a great introduction to many school concepts like weather, story time, snack time, the alphabet and music. In the second episode, Blue and Steve are looking for something to do and decide to play a guessing game using three clues. Blue leaves a paw print on three things and the audience gets to guess along the way, at what the clues are leading to.
I was very impressed with this educational and delightful video for many reasons. I found Steve, the narrator of sorts, to be totally engaging to the children, but yet low keyed and comforting in a Mr. Rogers sort of way. When he reminds the kids to buckle up on a school bus, you have this warm feeling that he cares about you, as you did in "The Neighborhood". The other aspect of Blue's Clues that I highly valued, was the undercurrent use of sign language.Whenever Steve said "Thanks"or "proud" or the colors, for instance, he also casually signed them.
Blue's Clues, beside being entertaining is highly educational and interactive. When Steve asked a question, "Does guitar begin with G?", my entire Pre-K class responded, "Yes", in unison.
The animation is terrific, as Steve is superimposed on a color cartoon, creating a constant visual attraction for children
Blue's Clues has the makings to be a timeless children's classic show, due to great characters, visuals and educational value.
