Something's Gotta Give
When thinking of Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, nudity and laughter may
not be the first few things that come to your mind. However, don't let the
nudity scare you away from Something's Gotta Give, which will keep you laughing and holding your breath until the end.
This film is a love story with as many love triangles as one person can
handle in one sitting. Gotta Give follows Keaton's character, Erica Barry's turn from an uptight woman into a fun loving lady. Nicholson's character, Harry Sanborn, also goes through a transformation for the better.
Keaton is radiant. Nicholson is right on target with his comedic
performance. Amanda Peet and Frances McDormand give great comedic
performances, but unfortunately only have small parts. Keanu Ree! ves steps
out of his typical dramatic role to play a very heartfelt and humorous doctor.
The comic timing of both of these main characters is impeccable. Keaton's
neurotic role is outright funny and Nicholson's performance compliments Keaton's very well. Even though bridging a gap of 22 years since the two have co-starred together (in Warren Beatty-directed political epic Reds), the chemistry between the two is just as evident as it was in 1981. Furthermore, all of the actors and characters within this film flatter each other.
Nothing's gotta change in this movie. They have given it all to us.
