Underworld
The blending of two very powerful and deadly creatures, Vampires and Werewolves is as seductive as it is sinister.
Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is a kick-butt vampire fighter whose blood mission it is to protect her line from the terrors of her enemies, the werewolves or better named, Lycans.
The war between them both has been a long and bloody one. Each one wanting
to finally put to rest the evils that both possess and come out victorious of the other.
For Selene, her mission and her legacy is to defeat the clan of Lycans who
she's been told were the ones who murdered her family when she was a little
girl. Viktor (Bill Nighy), a powerful vampire now in hibernation, was the one
who saved Selene from the massacre of her family and the one who made her
a vampire and daughter to his family.
Selene, who is a warrior by blood, also has the ability to feel love and compassion and this is what will lead her to find out what the Lycans want
with a human named Michael (Scott Speedman) who Selene will fall in love
with and try to save, as well as her own kind.
Kraven (Shane Brolly) is a vampire who craves power and has been put in
charge of the race until the next Vampire scheduled for awaking will take
reign over the kingdom. Kraven is not looked upon with respectable eyes from
Selene, an she frequently questions why he has been put in charge and feels
he is up to no good. The only thing that Kraven doesn't hold power over is Selene's love.
Lucian (Michael Sheen), the most feared and most diabolic of all Lycans and who was thought to be dead, has returned and with greater power.
Selene will come face-to-face with her enemies, something she'd never expected to have so close to her and will find out the truth of why this war
had started after all.
I like the film for its melodic-looking features, quick and fancy action sequences and the acting of Beckinsale, Speedman, Sheen, Brolly, and Nighy. I also love the premise, the sexiness of the movie, and the soundtrack just bites with rock pounding shattering tunes! I look forward to its sequel. C'mon, you know there has to be a sequel!
