A school teacher and her students are kidnapped in Australia
The first time I watched "Fortress" it was a life changing experience – invigorating, inspirational, absolutely great. I was about 11 years old then. Watching it again I enjoyed it almost as much.
Rachel Ward stars as Sally Jones, a teacher in a one-room school house in Australia. Four men show up wearing masks of characters from children’s stories and kidnap Sally and her students. First, they put them in a cave, but they are resourceful from the start and find a way out. This is not the end of their ordeal. They are captured again, and manage to escape once more. The kidnappers continue to pursue them.
The school is comprised of a few kids of all different ages. They work together with their teacher in innovative and, ultimately, violent ways to save themselves. It is amazing what can come of desperation, quick thinking, and improvising.
