Purple Rain

"Purple Rain" is a story of overcoming failures, learning about the human condition and truly believing in your gift and fighting for it every second you can. And knowing that, sometimes you have to open your eyes, heart and ears to those around you who want to help. The soul of the movie, the story, is the music, and it speaks with much passion, both in the positive and negative sense. But how it projects itself is eloquent, sad, beautiful and powerful.

The Kid (Prince), a young and troubled man seeks to understand himself better through his gift of music. The Kid performs in a Minneapolis club where his creative blend of stage escapades and song have been becoming more misunderstood by his fans and the members of the band. The Kid is losing ground fast and if he doesn't connect to an audience soon, he'll be tossed out of the club scene.

The Kid soon finds a piece of heaven with a sexy and promising singer named Apollonia (Apollonia), who looks to The Kid for some solid advice on marking her talent. But with so much turmoil in The Kid's personally and professionally life, he might just be giving up the one chance he has on discovering what it means to have love in his life and succeeding as a true performer.

DVD extras include soundtrack remastered in Dolby digital 5.1, interactive menus, production notes, theatrical trailer, scene access, and subtitles in English, French and Spanish.

Hot, funky, grinding and deeply stirring songs such as "Let's Go Crazy," "The Beautiful One's," "When Doves Cry," "Darling Nikki," "I would Die For You," and the phenomenal "Purple Rain," will have you strutting your smoking moves on the dance floor or, at least, singing along and becoming enthralled by one of the most talented and creative artists in the music business. And in 1985 "Purple Rain" won an Oscar and Grammy for best original score. Morris Day and The Time perform "Jungle Love" and it still remains one of my favorite songs to hear on the radio.

"Purple Rain" is pure Prince at one of his most electrifying times.
