Erie Indiana
Erie, Indiana aired for only one season in 1991, but essentially came across as a Twilight Zone for kids. It received great reviews and had a fanatical fan base, but was cut short within that series.
That said, it's not hard to see why the series was loved. It's a predecessor to the "X-Files" in the sense of fantasy. You follow the adventures of two young boys, Marshall and Simon, who are discovering that the Pleasantville-type of town of Erie, Ind., is actually a bit odd. Yes, they have people living eternally in Tupperware, and Elvis is happily retired there. The library is affected in town; nearly everything about the town is odd. And of course, appealing to kids in the audience, these two kids are the only ones who know.
For pre-teens, this is a nice series that will keep them occupied on a Saturday afternoon. Extra-wise there are none. In fact, they brag about the "interactive menus," which is as euphemistic as you can get. It's actually a shame that there aren't any extra features, as I'd be curious to hear how they came up with the storylines.
That all said, it's a series that I wish I had known about back in 1991, but I'm happy to know now.
