Sleepy Hollow

The legend of Sleepy Hollow returns with a new flare. It's very dark, eerie, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's almost like an Alfred Hitchcock movie meets "A Nightmare Before Christmas."

Tim Burton was meant to direct this movie. It truly reflects his style, even down to his own carved jack-o-lanterns.

The story opens in colonial New England where Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is a detective specializing in the new methods of forensic pathology. While most of his authorities still remain loyal to their medieval methods, Ichabod Crane bewilders them with his arguments based on scientific facts.

Causing the commotions his authorities want kept quiet, Crane is sent to a town called Sleepy Hollow to use his new antics in investigating the mysterious murders committed by a headless horseman. As he starts to interview the townspeople, he slowly realizes this is no human who is chopping off the heads of this town's kinsmen.

Christina Ricci plays the lovely Katrina van Tassel, who joins Crane in answering the mystery.

Ghosts, witchcraft and ingenious direction set this movie off from any other past takes on the old classic from Washington Irving. The costuming is incredible, too.

Definitely look out for Christopher Walken in this movie. He plays the headless horseman, well, before he lost his head. Very cool and quite scary with the pointy teeth.

You're definitely in for a ride watching this movie and it's worth it. To those easily frightened, beware, this is not Disney. It's one of the first urban legends we still fear today, thanks to Tim Burton.
