Dream Lover
Ray Reardon (James Spader) and his wife Martha (Kathleen York) have called it quits. A divorce that truly neither wanted to succumb to, but alas it did. A reality that is painful to deal with when apparently love is still strongly felt between them. But life does move on and much quicker for Ray.
Lena Mathers (Madchen Amick) is a bitch at first sight who practically castrates Ray at a party for accidentally spilling wine on her dress. A week later they run into each other at a super market and the sparks fly. They become romantically involved and marriage shortly follows. Life looks good, sex is incredible and babies are born. But something not kosher is happening in their marriage and Ray is feeling the affects of it. His wife, the love of his life just doesn't seem like herself. So many unanswered, mysterious and disturbing feelings are hinting towards something darker than Ray could have imagined about his wife. Could Ray's dream wife be something other than she appears to be?
Madchen Amick is a lust bucket of sensuality who gave a stellar performance. Madchen just took over the scenes and consumed them with her incredible performance.
The periodic dream sequences are wildly imaginative and do have critical significance to them. The ending digs in deep and gets its point across with a sharp twist.
