Adam Mitchel Lambert, who was born on Jan. 29, 1982 in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a famous American singer and songwriter.
Lambert’s family moved to San Diego, California shortly after his birth. He showed his talent in music, performing since his childhood, by performing with Metropolitan Educational Theatre Network (now MET2) at nine and appearing in local productions.
Before appearing on American Idol and becoming famous, Lambert had already performed in several musicals. He was a cast in a European tour of Hair for six months and was part of the musical Brigadoon and 110 in the Shade.
In 2009, Lambert auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol and became one of the two finalists. During the competition, photos insinuating that Lambert was gay caused attention from mainstream media. Lambert confirmed that he was gay after he was named the American Idol runner-up.
Even though Lambert was beaten by Kris Allen, he received praises and fame throughout the competition. Lambert released his first album, For Your Entertainment, on Nov. 23, 2009. The album was a huge success, both in sales and from critics.
Lambert released his second album Trespassing on May 15, 2012. He was also the executive producer for the album. Trespassing was named No. 9 on iTunes' list for “Best Pop Album of 2012.”
