Mariah Carey is a singer, actress and songwriter that got her start in the music business in 1990. She has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Her self-titled debut album went multi-platinum and had four number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. By 1995, she had released several hit albums and was considered the best-selling act for Columbia Records. That same year, her single “One Sweet Day”, which featured Boyz II Men, was the number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 for a record sixteen consecutive weeks. It still remains the longest running number one song in U.S. chart history.

In 2008, Carey released "Touch My Body," which was her 18th number one single, the most for any other solo artist. She has won five Grammy Awards, 17 World Music Awards, 11 American Music Awards and 31 Billboard Music Awards.

On April 30, 2008, Carey married actor and comedian Nick Cannon. On April 30, 2011, Carey gave birth to the couple’s fraternal twins, which they named Monroe and Moroccan Scott.

Carey recently joined Season 12 of American Idol as a judge.
