Soundgarden was scheduled to headline the Rock on the Range Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio until the tragic passing of frontman Chris Cornell on May 18, just one day before the band’s Friday night show. Bands and fans alike mourned Cornell’s death this weekend.

In honor of Cornell, fellow grunge rockers Bush performed “Black Hole Sun” at the festival, one of Soundgarden’s most iconic songs.

Corey Taylor, frontman of Slipknot and Stone Sour, also paid tribute to the rock star, performing a powerful acoustic version of “Hunger Strike.”

Taylor also performed a rendition of Soundgarden’s “Outshined” with Stone Sour. “[Chris Cornell] was one of my favorite singers,” said Taylor. “He was one of my all time favorite songwriters.”

The band Live paid their respects as well with a cover of “I Am The Highway.”

The official Rock on the Range Facebook page also posted this video featuring Cornell’s “Black Hole Sun” vocals.

Miley Cyrus dances the ‘Malibu’ jig in new music video

After time away from releasing new music, Miley Cyrus has reinvented herself yet again with “Malibu” a folky ode to her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth.

At the start of the video, the 24-year-old appears in front of a waterfall. Wearing a white frock, the singer had her wavy hair tied up in pigtails.

Moving from the beach to the meadow, Cyrus looks at peace playing with colorful balloons and cuddling with her pup.

Sporting the engagement ring that The Hunger Games star gave her, Miley sings the chorus, in reference to the home she shares with her significant other: “But here I am, next to you/The sky’s more blue in Malibu/Next to you in Malibu/Next to you.”

The tune picks up, as she dances in a jig that’s basically the best part!

Clad in the flowy white dress that prompted everyone to think wedding bells on Instagram, she frolics around on a cliff.

Towards the end, she sings, “Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning/And you’re there to save me/And I wanna thank you with all of my heart/It’s a brand new start/A dream come true in Malibu.”

In addition to releasing the song and music video, Miley shared on Instagram that the cover art of the single was taken by Liam.

Miley is set to perform “Malibu” at the Billboard Music Awards next Sunday, May 21.

See who slayed it and who failed it at the 2017 MTV Awards

2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards

Fashion at the MTV awards can range from uber classy to totally trashy. We will never forget the denim duo of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears from the 2001 awards show. Or Tyga’s screaming red ensemble from 2012.

This year was no different with some very interesting choices in wardrobe. Some were over-the-top amazing, others had us asking ‘just why?’

RELATED: Most shocking moments of all time at the MTV Awards

Emma Watson, John Cena, Tracee Ellis Ross, Taraji P. Henson and even Josh Gad pulled off some amazing looks. But we expect that of them. And as much as we love them, there were a ton of other looks on the red carpet that impressed as well as distressed.

Here’s our list of best and worst dressed of the night:

BEST

Mary Elizabeth Winstead pulled off what many others failed at – a simple sundress. From the deep plunge to the fringe on the hem to the embroidery on the hip the dress accentuates without overpowering and paired with classic sandals and jewelry she got this look totally right.

WORST

GiGi Gorgeous who was nominated for Best Documentary wore gold and fringe that blended in with her hair making it hard to see where she ended and the dress began. But that skin! Flawless.

BEST

Zac Efron nailed his all white ensemble, although he’d look sexy in a potato sack. Even The Rock chimed in  on his Baywatch costar’s look:

WORST

Cara Delevingne can make most anything look good. What landed her here was not the dress or the bald head, but the detachment and total lack of fun she seemed to have. It’s MTV not Fashion Week!

BEST

Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony made her simple, sultry look the envy of the night. From the dress to the shoes she owned less is more. Her red dress for her performance with PitBull and J. Balvin was equally enthralling.

WORST

Amy Schumer needs some wardrobe help for sure. She has freaked out before over being called plus size, insisting that she is a mere size 6, and we’ve seen her in a bikini so we’re sure she’s not huge. But even the worst stylist should be working harder to get some angles in her waist, whether it’s a belt or diagonal lines, sequined pattern – just anything to give the girl a curve or three!

BEST

Shannon Purser’s outfit embodies what we expect from the MTV red carpet. Fun and fresh, the Stranger Things star stood out while looking pretty chill.

WORST

I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. We LOVE Chrissy Metz but this dress is so wrong on so many levels. And seeing her tweet this morning, knowing where she was on the list broke my heart.

It’s just… It’s too short, the ruffles on the sleeves are just a big no for anyone over 20. Her style is awesome, but last night was a miss.

BEST

Dafne Keen is the scariest, most adorable little girl ever. She rocked her outfit last night with the black jacket and silver dress. She also steamrolled Hugh Jackman on stage which was simply edible!

WORST

We’re going to have to talk about ruffles again. Issa Rae chose stunning color for her dress, but all she needed was pigtails to host a children’s TV show. Her style is usually spot on, which makes this an even bigger disappointment.

BEST

Zendaya wore a chartreuse gown from Zuhair Murad taking the night in the fashion department.

WORST
Out of everything we saw last night, it was Farrah Abraham that was truly offensive culturally and visually. At this point there is no excuse for the inappropriateness here.

MTV Movie & TV Awards complete winners list including trending and musical.ly votes

The MTV  Movie & TV Awards were held last night and featured some amazing new categories, in addition to genderless categories – the very first awards show to do so. Other awesome moments came when Moonlight won for Best Kiss, Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) won for Best Actor on TV, Dafne Keen (Logan) pushed Hugh Jackman around on stage and Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures) became our hero on paper as well as in spirit.

All Time Low releases new song ‘Life Of The Party’

All Time unveiled their new song and video “Life Of The Party” Friday morning.

This is the third track off their upcoming album Last Young Renegade releasing on June 2.

With each track released thus far it’s no surprise that the group has changed their sound and evolved. Perhaps the new sound came with the switch the band made to a new record label.

Back in February they took to social media to announce they had secretly been recording their new album with Fueled By Ramen.

Here we are. Ten years since our first official full-length debut, (nearly 14 years since we formed this band,) and we’re lucky enough to be sharing another chapter in the tale of All Time Low with the world. We couldn’t be more grateful than we are right now. I hope you can forgive us, because we’ve been keeping secrets. Since the beginning of last year, we have officially been signed to Fueled By Ramen records, the very first label we ever showcased for during our senior year of high school. It didn’t work out back then, and that’s ok (we probably blew it), but FBR has always felt like a second musical family to us through everything. From Hopeless Records, to Interscope, and back to Hopeless, we’ve come up listening to the bands on the FBR roster, working together on outside projects, watching with pride and admiration, looking forward to the moment when timing and purpose would align, affording us the chance to come in under their wing. So, here we are; a year spent in secret on a new label, writing songs and brainstorming for what comes next. I’m happy to say that we can finally deliver. Dirty Laundry is a proud moment for me personally, a song written in the company of friends, torn apart and stitched back together several times over like all the best relationships… It’s about leaving the past where it belongs, and loving the people around you for not only their light, but their darkness too. We shot the video with that in mind; inspired by a dream about the ups and downs that make us who we are, sometimes worn and tired, but better for it… alive and inspired. You can check out the song and watch the video at alltimelow.com . Our good friend Pat Tracy, who directed the ‘Missing You’ video helped us bring it to life, and we couldn’t be happier about where the story will go from here. Pay close attention. 🙂 I hope you all love the song as much as I do. We’re ecstatic about everything we have lined up this year, and can’t wait to add this one to the set list as we get back out on the road. See you soon! xo, Alex #DirtyLaundry

This isn’t their first switch of labels, they released six full length albums with Hopeless Records. That was until 2011 when they switched over to Interscope to release Dirty Work. Then returning to Hopeless for Don’t Panic and Future Hearts.

MTV announced that it will award the Fast & Furious franchise with the Generation Award at the 2017 awards ceremony. This is the first time that a movie franchise will be honored instead of an individual actor.

According to MTV’s press release, Vin Diesel will accept the award alongside co-stars Michelle Rodriquez, Tyrese Gibson and Jordana Brewster. They are very excited about how their franchise has become “one of the most popular and enduring motion-picture” series of all time.

It was also revealed that J Balvin, Putbull and Camila Cabello will perform “Hey Ma,” featured on the sound track, for the first time live.

MTV’s General Manager said, “From the diverse cast of beloved actors, to the music and fashion, we are honored to present the Generation Award to a franchise that continues to entertain millions of fans across the world,” said Amy Doyle.

The Generation Award was dedicated to honor individual stars on their accomplishments. Past winners have included: Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Sandra Bullock and many more.

To commemorate the Furious movies, MTV will host a marathon of the first three films beginning on Saturday, April 29, at 8 p.m. Viewers will also have the chance to test their luck with trivia questions about the movies, the stars and their past appearances.

Tune into MTV for the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday, May 7, at 8 p.m. EST for this special honor.

Rapper Wale surprised his fans on Thursday, April 27, by releasing his fifth album Shine.

The album, which was originally slated to be out on May 5, was released just over a week early noted ComplexShine includes new songs from Wale in “Thank God” and “CC White.” It also features other artists like G-Eazy, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and WizKid. The new release even features a contribution by Wale’s 1-year-old daughter, Zyla.

While the release of the album on Thursday may have been unexpected, Wale did hint at his intent to release the album prior to the inital May 5 date. During the album listening party Wale quipped “I’m dropping this bitch on Friday.” The hip-hop artist has been teasing the new record since last summer when he released the first single off the album “My P.Y.T.” featuring Sam Sneak.

Stop what you’re doing ‘Right Now’ – the Haim sisters are back!

Yes, you heard correctly – Haim have finally crystallized their long-awaited return!

Four years after their incredibly impressive debut album Days Are Gone, the Haim sisters have been slowly but surely hinting at new music. Fans were becoming restless when mysterious billboards appeared in the Valley in California just before Coachella and the band posted video from the recording studio earlier this week.

Alana, Este and Danielle Haim answered all of our impatient musical prayers in a lively, energetic interview on Beats 1 with Zane Lowe. The sisters detailed as much as they could about their sophomore LP, Something to Tell You. The album – produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and in collaboration with former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij – will be out July 7 via Columbia/Polydor Records.

Being the groundbreaking girls they are, Haim did not merely debut their first new single with Zane Lowe. Instead, they premiered a stunning live-to-tape video of the haunting, mid-tempo tune “Right Now.” The video was directed by none other than Hollywood heavyweight Paul Thomas Anderson, who – in an almost too cosmic to be true work of fate – was a student of the Haim sisters’ mother back in the day.

If “Right Now” is any indication of what’s to come, Something to Tell You will surely be one of the best albums of the summer. And you know what they say: good things come to those who wait!

Universal announces plans for Madonna biopic, Madge not pleased

The world may soon get to see the story of Madonna’s life told on the silver screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has purchased the rights to a film about Madonna’s early years. The movie will be based on Blond Ambition, a script by Elyse Hollander that received top ranking on Hollywood’s 2016 Black List of unproduced screenplays.

The story would detail Madonna’s early glimpses of fame as she moved to New York City from Michigan, foregoes a career as a dancer to be a singer-songwriter and endures sexism in the music industry.

Fifty Shades of Grey producer Michael DeLuca has reportedly signed on to the project along with RatPac Entertainment helmed by Brett Ratner and John Zaozirny. Erik Baier’s, Universal’s executive vice president of production and director of development Chloe Yellin will oversee production. Unfortunately, one person who isn’t happy about the possible flick is Madge herself.

In an Instagram post on April 25, Madonna obscurely referenced the impending film writing, “Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool. Looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society.”

The photo along with the caption is of a young Madonna at the start of her career in the 1980s.

It’ll be interesting to see if and how yet another biopic drama plays out.

Dr. Luke no longer CEO of record label under Sony

Sony Music has severed ties with producer Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald) for the ongoing rape allegations made by singer, Kesha Rose Sebert.

The producer, who has churned out hits for pop stars, like Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, created Kemosabe Records with Sony in 2011.

With Sony’s deal, Dr. Luke gained “extraordinary creative control in return for exclusive rights to his services as a producer,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In Oct. 2014, Kesha accused Dr. Luke of giving her a date-rape drug before taking advantage of her. This prompted the producer to file a defamation claim.

RELATED: Kesha makes some serious allegations

Although the “Tik Tok” singer filed an injunction to sever ties with the producer’s working relationship, a New York judge rejected the plea.

For now, Sony’s website no longer features Dr. Luke’s bio affiliated with it and the producer does not have authority as CEO.

Court documents also indicate that “Kemosabe Records is wholly-owned by Sony Music Entertainment.”

While the news appears to be a positive for Kesha, the pop star’s legal team has said that it might be more difficult for her to get out of the contract with Dr. Luke, if Sony distances its relationship with him entirely.

Last year the producer’s attorney, Christine Lepera, claimed, “Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony.”

Referring to whether Sony Music would cut ties with the hitmaker, the statement continued to read, “His representatives are in regular contact with executives at the highest levels at Sony and this has never come up.”
