On Monday night, April 23, the band Fun. gave an energetic live and streamed performance for iHeartRadio Live, a Clear Channel Entertainment production.
April 23, 2012 – Fun. perform songs from their new album Some Nights, including their latest single “We Are Young,” at an intimate iHeartRadio Live show at the iHeartRadio Theater presented by P.C. Richard & Son in New York City.
Fun. did a short set of six songs, but enough to leave you wanting more. Even Jon Bon Jovi, who was in the crowd, gave them a thumbs up at the end of the performance.
Fun.'s lead vocalist, Nate Ruess formed this indie pop group. He provides lead vocals with an unexpectedly powerful voice from a young, slender frame.
For their first song, Fun. sang the catchy “One Foot” off of their new album, Some Nights. It includes a steady beat and cool trumpet accompaniment by Andrew Dost, who also played keyboard.
The band also features Jack Antonoff on guitar, as well as Nate Harold on bass guitar, Emily Moore on guitar, vocals, and keyboard and Will Noon on drums.
“One Foot” was followed by “Walking the Dog” from 2009 album Aim and Ignite.
Fun. then returned to their current album to sing the inspirational “Carry On.” It has an Irish influence in the sound and great lyrics.
The video of the song below is an acoustic version of the full band version the live performance included:
Despite recording all day, Ruess and the band knew how to keep the crowd going, following up with “Bar Lights,” also from their prior album, encouraging audience participation with clapping and singing.
Next up, was the highly anticipated performance of “We Are Young,” which did not disappoint. It continued with audience participation. Whether or not you were young, you felt young.
They ended the set with an electric performance of “Some Nights,” also from the new album, as lively as they began.
Fun. is a talented group to see perform live. You can catch them on tour this summer and have some “fun” of your own.
