Attaloss’s debut album features energetic bass and guitars, pounding drums, and passionate vocals. The band is a relative newcomer to the alternative rock scene, forming in 2010 with members Danny Aguiluz, Chris Johansen, Matt Geronimo, Lorenzo Perea and Dakota Clark. They released one EP, The Awakening, before releasing their debut album, Attaloss, in 2012, which peaked at number five on Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Despite being fresh faces to the music scene, Attaloss already has had radio play on the world famous KROQ FM station and played in shows with Neon Trees, Smashing Pumpkins, and Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy.
Attaloss’s debut album features twelve tracks -- the first six tracks are the original versions of the songs while the latter six are the acoustic versions. The album demonstrates Attaloss’s ability for diversity in sound with the more powerful, energetic tracks and soulful acoustic ones. The album features their hit, “Open Door,” a song that debuted on world famous 106.7 KROQ radio station, a popular rock station in Los Angeles.
The album opens with “Open Door,” an upbeat track with a catchy chorus. The track starts slowly with strumming of the guitar and Aguiluz’s hushed vocals before kicking into the main chorus, in which Danny’s vocals soar in the uplifting lyrics, “Today is an open door.” The song lives up to the expectations of its hype and is undoubtedly one of the standout tracks on the album.
A personal favorite is “Before You Let Me In,” an emotional track about heartache which showcases energetic drums, great bass and head-banging guitars alongside soulful vocals. Another notable track, “Fate Will Only Know Tomorrow,” features an amazing guitar solo which is arguably the highlight of the track.
Attaloss’s debut album is worth listening to and it is not just simply for fans of alternative rock. With their release of their debut album, Attaloss has already made an impression in the alternative rock scene.
