Citizen Cope released a new album last Tuesday, July 17. One Lovely Day is CC’s, also known as Clarence Greenwood’s, fifth album currently available for purchase on iTunes.
The current hit track is “One Lovely Day,” which is so good, in fact, it seems that Citizen Cope decided to name the entire album after it.
We can hear whispers of the older Citizen Cope throughout this track, mainly the fact that the quality of his raspy voice has not been lost. You will still be able to appreciate the slow and sweet musicality you’ve come to love about Greenwood’s creations.
Of course the feel of the song matches it’s laid back title. “One Lovely Day” is a track for a hot summer day, hint the July release date, so sit back with a cold drink and enjoy. Cope does sound far more pleasant here than on his former tracks, as he sings about hopes of one day running away with the one he loves. Fans can look forward to a classic Citizen Cope album with a happier twist.
If you like this track check out “DFW” also off Cope’s One Lovely Day. It sounds more like the old darker Cope, none-the-less, it has the new sound only found on this most recent album.
