I didn’t know what to expect from Jackopierce at first listen, but I was immediately hooked. They have just that sound that I absolutely love. They have that 90’s alternative rock sound that has vanished since, but managed to be a very pleasant surprise here. The album that I’m talking about is Jackopierce’s Everywhere All The Time.
Well, I gave the album a full listen through, and it really doesn’t let down. I then looked up information on the band and I was surprised to find that they formed in 1988, but they’ve also released more than 10 albums prior to the release of Everywhere All The Time just recently. This explains their sound that hooked me in, but also their veteran musicianship that can be heard through the music.
When it comes to the tracks, it opens the fun pop-rock sound that you almost can’t help but bounce around to. The band likes to focus around the vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars, but it works so well together. Just when it seems like maybe they were stretching the sound, they mix it up a little, tone the songs down, add a little
variety. The track order is very well done.
If I had to choose my favorite track, it would be “Listen To Me.” I love this song because it changes up the sound that Jackopierce is so good at and twists it into a little folk-ish, but the lyrics are great. It’s an advice song to a man to appreciate the love he has while he has it, it’s sweet and sticks with you.
Outside of this song, I don’t know if I can pick-out some of my favorites because I’d feel bad about leaving any out. The first three tracks off of Everywhere All The Time are “Into Me”, “Finally Free”, and “Around Me Now.” All have a similar sound but they kickoff the album and suck you right in.
Two more notable tracks are “Alright By Me” and “Lonely.” “Alright By Me” doesn’t stray from the sound of the band, but the melody goes along perfect with the lyrics, making for an excellent song. “Lonely” is an underdog on the album. It’s very mellow and simple, but it’s simply a pleasure to listen to. It stands out and sticks to the
listener.
All in all, by listening to Jackopierce’s Everywhere All The Time alone, I count myself as a fan. Now I’ll be sure to check out the rest of the band’s discography. I highly recommend this album. It makes a great addition to the music library, especially to those that enjoy a bit of a musical throwback.
