'Shameless' Season 3 Episode 6 - 'Cascading Failures'

This episode was clearly one of the most shocking to say the least. Frank Gallagher has obviously shown his true colors when it comes to caring and supporting his six children but one phone call to CPS or Child Protective Services as some of you know it rocked the household like never before. All five children accept Fiona we taken and scattered across the South Side like rat feces.

Each child ends up in a funnier or more excruciating situation than the one they just were ripped from.

Carl and Liam end up together and with a gay couple who desperately want to adopt and African American baby. The are also deeply considering taking Carl in as well but with his ongoing curiosity about gay sex, he does not make such a lasting impression on the couple. He asks them graphic questions about their sex life, steals from them, urinates on their couch, and even watched some of their gay porn movies.

Debbie my favorite ingenue and most innocent of the Gallagher's is put in a home with a not so nice caretaker. One who also runs her own business, that is the business of adopting tons of kids to act as her personal "slaves." Debbie, used to the workload of her upbringing and her experience at the illegal daycare, does not complain and tries to get used to her new situation.

Ian and Lip are put together in a group home and sooner than later the tight duo have to fight to keep alive in this home of gangbangers and delinquents, even more deviant than they ever were. Ian who is allowed to work while at the home at the convenience store, meets up with his crush Mickey. Mickey invites Ian to stay over at his place but things get way out of hand when they try to get intimate. Mickey's father catches them and gives Ian a beating. He then calls someone on the phone asking for "the Russian." We assume its a huge man who will let Ian have another beating but it ends up being a woman who comes to force the gay out of Mickey and Ian is forced to watch them have sex with his father in tow watching as well.

One of the wildest story lines in the episode had to belong to Veronica and Kev, who after many attempts to get pregnant, have chosen to let V's mother carry their baby to "keep it in the family." After the turkey baster failed to work as a way to impregnate V's mom, V comes up with the crazy idea of allowing Kev and his mom to have procreate the natural way. The rest of the episode shows countless efforts from both Kev and V's mom getting it on with the help of V in the room helping them feel as comfortable as possible. Talk about desperate and gross!Finally after many failed attempts, V joins in on the action for one last try. This seems to have work but is still so disturbing I cannot fathom someone going through those lengths just to have somewhat of a biological child.

Fiona threatens Frank with the possibility that he will go to jail forever when the cops find out about the corpse in the backyard so she begs him to help get the kids back. Frank agrees only if he can come back and live rent free at the house. Frank has to keep clean to prove he is an acceptable parent. Sheila is asked to pose as Monica and Frank and she go to CPS to try and prove that they are clean and sober. Frank however cannot keep clean to save his life and puts clean urine in his mouth and passes his drug test.

Lovely and tireless Fiona eventually gets to see the kids by getting information of their whereabouts from the girl at CPS who allows her to visit the kids and bring them things. She gets to visit each one of them and is reassured she will get them back soon enough. The episode ends with Fiona gaining full trust of the Child Services employee, and getting a listen to the anonymous phone call that separated her family. After recognizing the voice was her dad's. We can only hope that Frank will get his ass kicked in by Fiona but we can never know for sure with this crazy family.
