Musician Midge Ure, best known as a member of '80s hugely popular Alternative music act Ultravox, steps out as a solo act with new music release Midge Ure: Live in Chicago.
The new recording, which was recorded during Ure’s tour of the U.S. in winter of 2013, delivers 14 selections spanning his expansive career, as a member of Ultravox, side projects as Visage, and as a solo artist, performed live. The classics featured here, "Vienna," "Hymn," "Love's Great Adventure," "Fade To Grey," and "If I Was," all fare pretty well, though most are about three decades old. Ure’s vocal delivery, which propelled many of the spotlighted singles found here in this collection into massive commercial hits, even expresses the same emotive earnestness of yesteryear. As these are recorded live performances, only minute varied and distinctive changes can be found on tracks. A most notable standout, "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes," features an extended harder-edged intro and arrangement.
Midge Ure: Live in Chicago overall reflects the long lasting testament of Ure's given talent as a songwriting craftsman. The recording is available exclusively for sale at MidgeUre.com.
