My son and I truly enjoyed our copy of Lots & Lots of Monster Trucks, the two DVD set from Marshall Publishing & Promotions Inc. This action-packed set includes over two hours of monster truck crashes, races, tricks, wheelies and donuts (my son's fave), all complete with the sounds, chills and thrills you would expect. Special effects (of course I was told to "make it louder mommy") make you feel like you are right there in the arena. First we viewed disc one, which instantly took me back to childhood. These were all the "old school" original trucks from the '80s, or "muscle machines," which fly through the air, and land with a crash with parts exploding everywhere (another favorite part with the kiddies). The footage is fantastic; with all the crashing, smashing and spinning out of control even my 3-year-old nephew never lost interest once! They were also all attention to the classic mud-bogging and demolition derby clips.
Disc two contains all the free-style and racing action of today. My son's absolute favorite part was the Free-Style Motorcross and the "Transaurus" car cruncher. What is not to love about a 30-foot, fire-breathing robotic machine that can devour a full size car. It also contains great footage of Monster Truck favorites "Bigfoot," "Tailgator," "Bounty Hunter," "Avenger," "Double Trouble" and more.
Next up was a third DVD, Monster Truck Classics, a special collector's edition featuring Battle, Return and War of the Monster Trucks. Most of these exhibitions have not been seen in over 20 years; you are truly treated to re-mastered original footage from as early as 1974 (Ford Bigfoot) and even includes interviews with the drivers and owners of these amazing machines! These truly were the trucks that began it all; "Bigfoot," "Taurus," "Clyclops" (we kept having to go back to that one), "Psycho," "The Green Monster" and others, all with the action-packed obstacles you remember. Another favorite feature for my house was the ugliest truck competition as well as the tug of war.
I completely recommend the Monster Truck DVD collections. They are the perfect gift for the 3-year-old truck enthusiast all the way up to the vintage monster truck show fan. Truly perfect for almost any age!
