The band Broken Bells has released their music video for “Holding On for Life.” The video is not a typical music video. Broken Bells is known for their indie rock sound, which is created by artist-producer Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) and James Mercer, is known for being the lead vocalist and guitarist for The Shins.

The video draws from two sci-fi-themed short films that the group recently produced. The films, and now the video, feature Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) and Kate Mara (House of Cards). Mara looks beautiful in the video and connects with the audience without saying a single word.

The music video does have the larger scale that a film would. It contains impressive lighting, intense character story line and even plot development. The video has a retro feel but has modern elements that are brought in through the production of the music.

The single, “Holding On for Life,” does feature a very unique sound. It combines indie influences with a futuristic background of guitars and electronica music.

“Holding On for Life” will be featured on Broken Bells' After the Disco album. After the album has been released, Broken Bells will be heading out on a U.S. tour.
