Eric Church is country music's resident bad boy, rock 'n' roll inspired and edgy musician. Church is currently working on his next studio album and has released the first single.
"Give Me Back My Hometown" has the traditional sound that Church's fans have come to know and love. The sound includes his gritty vocals and strong guitar playing. The song has a very organic and natural feel from Church, who seems to be returning to his musical roots.
Three minutes into "Hometown," Church really shows his powerful vocal range and the emotion behind this soon-to-be country classic.
The music video feels very similar to the song in that it is a natural setting and has a very organic, hometown feel to it. The video and the song highlight the lyrics and Church, not cluttering the video with an overly complicated storyline was the perfect choice for this song.
The song tells the story of someone post a breakup who wants to return to his hometown but feels the presence of his ex on every street and that is captured in the video which focuses on a roadside funeral in what looks to be a desert.
For Breaking Bad fans, watch the video closely. Steven Michael Quezada, known for playing DEA agent Hank Schrader’s partner Steven Gomez, makes an appearance in the video.
It feels like fans are getting a window into more of Church's life and hometown with this video. Church has said that these videos will become part of a larger story so fans will have to wait and see what comes next from Church and this upcoming album.
