In 2006 OK Go gave us the exquisitely choreographed, single-shot “Here It Goes Again” video where the band members seamlessly moved and danced between four treadmills. The indie band are at it again with a visually stunning, filled with optical illusions video for their new single “The Writing’s On The Wall."
The illusions all on their own are stunning, playing tricks on the eyes that will have you watching the video again and again just to figure out exactly what is going on. The fact that it is done as a single shot is also mind-blowing, as the camera moves throughout a warehouse, weaving in and out of different scenes, culminating in a behind the scenes look as the entire crew comes out. Preparations for shot took two months and 61 run-throughs.
The song itself gives soft whispered vocals with an indie-rock background kicking throughout. The I’m-breaking-up-with-you lyrics are catchy and very relatable to people on the brink of separation; the chorus epitomizes the feel with lyrics "The writing’s on the wall/it seems like forever/since we had a good day."
“The Writing’s On The Wall” is the first single from OK Go’s brand new album Hungry Ghosts set for release on Oct. 14.
