Cowabunga! That would be the exact term I would use to express my excitement over the release of the reboot of Michael Bay's produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Honestly, I wasn’t sure of what to expect from this movie. The previews were definitely interesting, especially the look of the mutated turtles. More than anything I wanted to see the ninja turtles actually at work on the screen with fighting and interacting with each other. I have to say I was not disappointed. The fight scenes were epic and the gags were really funny. The story wasn’t too complicated to follow while setting a foundation for more Ninja Turtle films. I found myself wanting to drag my husband with me to see the movie for a second time.
The characters all had sufficient storylines that didn’t drain the energy from the other themes and scenes in the movie. The main female character in the story kept us captivated and into her hunt for the truth. Along with her male supporting actor, they were able to create a funny environment that I am sure men and women can relate too. As for the actors that voiced the turtles and their rat mutated father, they delivered great versions of each of their characters.
We were able to see the father and son bond as well as the teacher bond between the turtles and their adopted father. The brotherly bond between the TMNT’s was also tested and explored in many different ways. This allowed for the audience to connect with each of them and create a bond that tied into their brotherly relationship.
Special effects were another great part of this film. I was captivated by the fight scenes and action scenes throughout the movie. The action did not disappoint at all. Sounds were on point and the music catered to whatever was going on on-screen.
Ultimately, this film is a must see! It’s appropriate enough for children and complicated enough for adults. If you are not a TMNT fan now, I suggest seeing this film. You will be happy you saw it!
