Chief Keef - 'Bang 3' album review

As popular songs such as “Love Sosa” and “I Don’t Like” took the billboard charts by storm, the 19-year-old rapper Chief Keef from Chicago, Illinois has finally transcended the hip hop scene. Although he has been producing music since 2011, he officially branched out and made a name for himself in 2012 with his mix-tape Back from the Dead, as well as launching an album Bang 3, both rich with details of the story of the struggle to make something out of oneself, death, and becoming triumphant in the wake of it all.

Moreover, Keef released tracks for his new album Bang 3, as well as the artwork for the album, which has been out now since Aug.15. This is quite a thrill because the hype around this project has been ongoing since November of last year and let’s just say, he didn’t disappoint. The cover of the album appears to be the inside of a barrel of gun, and in each of the compartments of the gun is a symbol inscribed in three compartments such as money, a broken heart , and a light bulb whereas the other three compartments are empty . This could signify that the ones left are the ones that really take a toll on his profession and the importance of the emotion he has for those symbols.

In addition, the album is composed of 17 tracks, with each track being three to four minutes. On the album, he delivers to the audience the vibe of life on the streets of Chicago with an “I don’t care, I’m young” type of attitude in his most notable songs “Hate me Now” and “Ignorant." This album tests boundaries of the youth that some are afraid to express, which is admirable. This album is worth a listen, if you haven't already.
