Adam Lambert 'Better Than I Know Myself' review

Chelsea Lewis

Adam Lambert is back and has just released his next single, “Better Than I Know Myself.” When audiences first hear the new single off of Lambert’s new album, Trespassing, it might not be instantly recognized as a Lambert song until the chorus.

Lambert is experimenting with this new song. The song is less dance-heavy and focuses on Lambert’s incredible vocal range. The song opens with an electric piano and then brings in a heavy bass drum and Lambert's vocals. Lambert has a deeper tone in his vocals than normal. His sound has matured since his last album. The song picks up-tempo and reaches its stride during the soaring chorus. Lambert showcases just how high his vocal range stretches and puts emotion into this song.

The beat break down about two minutes into the song brings the beat back and puts the focus back on the insightful and beautiful lyrics. The song then soars back into the larger-than-life chorus. This single feels as though Lambert is leaving some of the “glam” rock behind and just keeping it about his musical talent. This single has a lot less gimmicks with dance-driven beats. The emotion comes across on this single and Lambert proves he has a vocal range unlike any other artist in the music scene right now.

This is the just first single off of Lambert’s 2012 album and it feels as though the singer has put his entire heart and soul into this one song. Audiences and fans have a lot to look forward to when the album drops in 2012.
