The 1997 film Contact was an intelligent drama based on Carl Sagan's book about one scientist's discovery of life in outer space. Fortunately the movie gets a very simple but moving score from composer Alan Silvestri. The music is very unobtrusive and with the streamlined orchestration the score is still emotional. Some suspenseful music with minor electronics are used and there is an exciting and clever "chase" piece (track 2- Ellie's Bogey). The theme is a little reminiscient of Silvestri's earlier score for Forest Gump but Contact stands out with music that introspective and perfect for the conflict that Ellie faces inside.
