Angelina Ballerina the Musical

Angelina Ballerina has been a favorite of little girls, and some boys, for about 25 years. When we heard that it was being adapted into a musical we needed to check it out. Angelina Ballerina the Musical playing at New York’s Vital theatre through January 2, 2011 was full of energy and fun for adults as well as children. The venue itself was small and intimate, maybe about 10 rows and very comfortable. Even the smallest child had a great view. The show was only about an hour long which was long enough for most little girls that were in attendance.

Angelina finds out that a premiere dancer will be visiting Camembert Academy to watch some students perform. Angelina wants to impress her. Without giving anything away the show includes a variety of musical and dancing styles and the audience learns that dancing comes from the heart. The cast was very animated, expressive and entertaining. The show included plenty of lines that kept the adults in the audience laughing as well as the children.

I would highly recommend the show to families especially since a ticket is $29.50. It is a wonderful and affordable way to expose children to the theatre.
