The BDI's
The BDI'S travel stateside with their new self-titled record. Hailing from England, under the former name The Panda Gang, the indie band combines funk and jazz influences with rock and soul. Sounding like an updated version of a Miami Cuban son band, The BDI'S bring indie music to a new level. The BDI's have been compared to Leroy Hutson, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield and described as having a "bubblegum soul sound." The band has made quite the impression on anyone listening.
"Slow Burning" is straight from the 1970s, down to the backing vocals and dance beat. "One More Time" brings a poppy sound reminiscent of The Weezers, but while the song would be radio friendly, it still retains the unique qualities that are seen throughout the record. "Sweet Relief" has soul written all over it, from the lyrics to the music and the vocals, with a touch of Jackson 5 thrown. "The BDI's" is a truly unparalleled album that any music fan would appreciate.
