Body + Soul- The '90
Fans of 90's R&B are in for a treat with Body + Soul- The 90's. The album begins and ends with songs about making love. The CD sets the mood right from the beginning with Toni Braxton's "You're Makin' Me High" while the deep voice of Barry White closes out the album with "Practice What You Preach."
Boyz II Men's "End of the Road" is one of the more nostalgic songs. Just listening to it brings you back to a school dance or wedding in 1992 where it seemed like everyone was slow dancing to this song at the time.
"No Diggity" by Blackstreet picks up the pace a bit and gets the toes tapping. It's one of the few rap songs on the album. New Edition's "Hit Me Off" and Shanice's "I Love Your Smile" also put you in a dancing mood.
The girls of SWV make you want to sing-a-long to their hit song "Don't Let Go." The group has a total two songs on the album. Their other hit "Right Here" is also featured.
Dru Hill's "In My Bed" and Deborah Cox's "We Can't Be Friends" are two of the slower songs that question the strength of a relationship. "Candy Rain" by Soul 4 Real takes things to a brighter note, comparing their love to "candy coated raindrops."
A lot of the more popular songs are at the beginning of the album. Body + Soul ?The 90's encompasses a range of emotions about love from making love, to keeping love and losing love. While the album has a decent mix of songs, it seems like they are missing out on some other great hits from the decade. These should replace some of the lesser known songs.
