CD Review, "The Alter Ending" by Dashboard Confessional
If you’re a seasoned of closet Dashboard Confessional fan, you’ll like this album. It’s just like every other Dashboard Confessional album, but with a bit less of the slow ballads and more of the catchy, poppy emo songs. Unlike previous (particularly older) Dashboard albums, the sound quality of this album is very good. There aren’t any acoustic songs, but it’s still in typical Dashboard form, which again is enjoyable if Chris Carrabba’s voice is to your liking.
As a closet Dashboard Confessional fan, opposed to being addicted to the catchy melodies or the vocals, I’ve always been big on the lyrics. My favorite tracks on this album were “Everybody Learns From Disaster” and “No News is Good News.” “Even Now” is a track for all of the heartbroken out there, a typical song about missing someone that was once part of your life. To me, each Dashboard Confessional album has been a step up from the one before, and Alter the Ending is no exception.
