chasetheglow
Given the fact that Nashville-based chasetheglow was formed in the spring of 2007, the Christian alternative/indie band may just need more time to adjust to performing together to make a really good album. Their self-titled album mostly sounds loud with its guitar riffs, provided by Jordan Crenshaw and bassist Aaron Carlson, and drum beats, provided by Eric Steward. Lead vocalist Sara Pecchia even asks in the lyrics of the second track, "We sing / Can you feel it getting louder?" Pecchia's vocals seem slightly flat on the opening track as she repeatedly sings the chorus, competing with the high-volume music, but her voice sounds more powerful as the album progresses. Crenshaw's back-up vocals also help lift Pecchia's voice above the music at times. There is a worshipful bent to the lyrics, but the alternative style of chasetheglow's music can appeal to nonreligious music lovers as well. The six tracks on chasetheglow are a good start, but there is room for improvement.
