Mention the word ‘Country’ and even the most discerning music lover will more than likely run for the hills. Regardless of what popular opinion perceives country music to represent it still holds a huge handful of fans across America and the globe. Grammy award winning artist Ricky Skaggs is one of the reasons behind this, his music finding not only fans but countless awards including this years ICM Entertainer of the Year and Musician of the Year.

Skaggs’s latest album, Country Hits, Bluegrass Style showcases the Skaggs that fans know and love, true blue commercial country at its best from the man who according to Chet Atkins “single-handedly saved country music in the 80s.” The album is a melting pot of classic country, with the most popular from the 80s and 90s being re-recorded and revived with a distinctive bluegrass feel. Skagg’s first number one hits ‘Crying my heart out over you’ and ‘I don’t care.’ The foot tapping ‘Honey Open that Door’ sits at number 3 on this 14 track album and is sure to continue to charm hearts. While the album may not reach mainstream chart success, Skaggs is sure to be, once again, well received in the country market and fans will not be disappointed.
