David Arnold

Brandon Moore

David Arnold came onto the big Hollywood film music scene with this exciting and action packed sci-fi score for Stargate (1994). The film started Arnold's collaboration with Roland Emmerich who would again work with the composer on the summer blockbuster Indepedence Day. Stargate's music is powerfully dramatic with Lawrence of Arabia type of music utilizing some Egyptian elements. An exciting leitmotif is stated at the opening of the album and concludes to the end with a chorus chanting the music for the alien villian of the picture. Some great John Williams-like style of action set pieces based on the theme are included (Mastadge Drag, Kasuf Returns). Stargate is a 1990's sci-fi treat for fans of fantasy adventure scores.
