The E. Family - ‘Now and Forever’

Drummer Shelia E. is best known for her work with Prince and touring with Ringo Starr, but she’s also had success with hits like “The Glamorous Life.” The Escovedo family is filled with musical talent, though. Shelia recently got together with her father, Pete and brothers Juan and Peter Michael to record Now and Forever, a great album with a unique twist of Latin beats and pop.

“I Like It” is a great track, which turned into the lead single. It’s a great dance track, featuring great backing and wonderful vocals. Tracks like this are great to dance to, with a great, finger-snapping beat.

“Nothing Without You” is much more boisterous, with a fantastic lead guitar part and great vocals by Shelia.

“Do What You Do” is another lively track, highlighted by a great drum solo by Pete and a lovely trumpet.

“The J.” is a fantastic little jamming chant track, highlighting the classical drum talent that all of the members of the family share. It’s a little short, but is a nice shot of energy between tracks.

The album, which was released earlier this year, includes collaborations with a variety of artists from Earth, Wind & Fire to Joss Stone. “I Like It” is a fantastic, easy-going track, but the others prove that this is a great, relaxing record.
