Finding My Way
I'm surprised that I've never heard of Raquel Aurilia. Her radio-friendly pop album "Finding My Way" is catchy and charming. The music sounds like a slightly softer Michelle Branch -? it's mostly acoustic and Aurilia's voice is just as good as Branch's.
The album shifts styles somewhat on track four. The song is much slower than the others before it, and the guitars and drums are replaced temporarily by a piano and bass. The song ends with strings and a chorus, which sound beautiful but are unexpected.
Also on the album is a cover version of "Dreamweaver," which is a complete departure from the original. Aurilia's version, like the rest of her album, is soft and upbeat. The original could hardly be described as "soft."
The only song I could do without is track eight. It's not as good as the other ones -? possibly even borderline annoying.
"Finding My Way" is enhanced by the variety of songs on the album. The music never gets tiresome; changes between the songs are subtle, but noticeable enough to hold listeners' attention until the last track.
