I was first turned on to this band by a friend in the summer of 2009. She introduced them to me by showing me the video to one of their hit singles, a ballad called “The Bleeding.” I rewound the video over and over so I could listen to each part individually.
The thing that caught my attention first was the way the two guitarists fed off of each other. I was hooked. I went on to the bass and then the drums.
“Just listen to the lyrics already,” my friend exclaimed.
As I listened to the lyrics I realized, this band really gets it. There was finally something new that was aggressive enough to stand out and shine in my collection with bands such as Prong, Rage Against The Machine and Pantera. It is the kind of music that gives you “lead foot” before you know it as you are driving down the road.
Over the last couple of years I have explored the power driving sounds of Five Finger Death Punch further. The band released a crushing cover of Bad Company’s song “Bad Company.” It stayed to true to the original while giving it that Five Finger Death Punch twist.
With the combination of many scathing, grinding hard songs and graphic, emotional power ballads, Five Finger Death Punch is the same as the testosterone driven, metal music that has kept me ten foot tall and bullet proof for years.
Five Finger Death Punch has been around since 2005 from Los Angeles, Ca. The first album “The Way of The Fist” came out in 2007.
Making its way across the US while playing music festivals over the years, this band has made quite a name for itself and gained the respect of the hard to please aggressive music fans.
People say, “There are no more really ‘big bands’ around anymore,” or “The era of the ‘great bands’ is over. Well I think this band comes pretty darn close.
The current lineup of Five Finger Death Punch includes, founding member guitarist Zoltan Bathory, drummer Jeremy Spencer, vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarist Jason Hook and the most addition to the band, bassist Chris Kael.
Today, July 7, 2011, Five Finger Death Punch released a new single.
“Under and Over It” is the debut for Five Finger Death Punch’s third album, American Capitalist. The album will be available in stores on October 11th, 2011. If you can't wait, grab the single and give it a spin
