Floratone

Floratone's self-titled record is a prolific coalescence of musical prowess from guitarist Bill Frisell, drummer Matt Chamberlain, producer Tucker Martine and Lee Townsend. This release from Blue Note Records is a jazzy album that mingles varying types of rhythms to create an album worthy of being heard by true jazz enthusiasts.

The title track starts off with commanding drum work in the intro followed by futuristic and electronic sounds, which give the song a modern vibe. Then echoing guitar work enters the melody, bringing a soothing tone to the song despite its slightly ominous rhythm.

"The Passenger" is a song that could be played in a motion picture that chronicles the experiences of a particular stranger. There is primitive guitar play along with throbbing drum work that escalates as the song progresses. This track might intrigue listeners with its enigmatic beats and mysterious pace.

On "Monsoon" there is premonitory rumbling and pounding drum play in the intro. The drumming has a tribal quality to it, which gives the song an infectious vibe. The surge of the drums lightens as the song continues, giving way to an altogether soothing mood.

"Threadbare" begins with odd sounding percussion. There is a build-up in the intro as the synthesis of different sounds meld together. Guitar work is then followed by electronica sounds, which bring a flowing rhythm to the song.

Floratone's self-titled album is a record that blends multiple instruments and has elements of jazz, Emo and even pop throughout. Each musician lends his unique abilities, which makes every track singular in its musical interpretation.
