Forgetting Sarah Marshall, starring Jason Segal and Kristen Bell is based around Peter, a composer who is devastated after his girlfriend of five years breaks up with him. Yet, his girlfriend isn't just any other girl; she is the bombshell star of a "CSI" type show. After his brother tells him to go on a vacation he heads off to Hawaii for some R and R. But as he is checking in, he sees his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend: an obnoxious British rock star played by Russell Brand.
Immediately, he is right back into his depressed state. The good news is although he may keep running into his ex and her new man, he comes alive again when he meets Rachel (Mila Kunis), the hotel check-in desk receptionist. Throughout the movie, viewers wonder if Sarah will realize what she has lost and whether or not Rachel may be the new woman for Peter.
Although Jason Segal is used to being the sidekick role in movies like "Knocked Up" and "I Love You, Man," he does a pretty good job carrying his own weight as the lead man in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." Yet, in a scene with Paul Rudd--who plays a surfing instructor--his character and acting abilities are outshined by those such as Rudd. Ultimately, Segal has you laughing throughout the entire movie. Although it may be predictable, it is still a fun film to watch--especially on a summer day!
"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is now available on DVD.
