Fox Makes Friends

A young fox makes a friend.

Adam Relf does wonderfully with his debut children's book, Fox Makes Friends. Young children will surely enjoy this heartwarming tale about making friends. The story is about a little fox who is sitting in his bedroom bored, when he decides the cure to his loneliness is to have a friend.

The fox is about to go off to literally catch a friend with a net when his mother stops him and informs him that friends are actually made. Still, thinking literally, like most young children, the fox goes on his way to make friends. The young fox gathers sticks, apples, and nuts and assembles them to (literally) make a friend. Proud of his masterpiece, the little fox asks his new 'friend' if it is his friend and whether it wants to play. However, the fox is given no reply. The fox then figures that perhaps he needs to make his friend bigger.

When the fox sees a bunny running by, he asks the bunny for help to which the bunny obliges. Soon, the young fox and bunny are making a friend together. Still, when they assemble their 'friend,' their friend still does not reply to them. Perhaps they need to make it bigger? Soon, a squirrel is also helping them in their quest to make a friend.

Silly yet sweet, Fox Makes Friends is a tale to which young children, with their literal thinking, will easily relate.
